PRACTICE AREAS

Mr. Wood is a lifelong resident of Solano County.   He served as a Deputy County Counsel in Solano County for approximately six years as legal counsel to the County in many business and real estate matters, including representing:   the Property Management Department, the Solano County Fair Association, the Health and Social Services Department, the Solano County Assessment Appeals Board, and the County of Solano in civil litigation matters.  He began his legal career as a Deputy District Attorney in Napa County, and practiced as a bilingual attorney for a general law firm in San Francisco before returning to Solano County.   Mr. Wood was a successful real estate agent before attending law school.

General Civil Litigation:  Representation of clients in all forms of civil litigation, with emphasis on real estate, business disputes, and estate and trust litigation.

Real Estate:  Negotiation of purchase and sales agreements, leases and tax-deferred exchanges. Representation of individuals and institutions in litigation and negotiations involving real estate including: breach of contract, construction defects, failure to disclose conditions, fraud, property tax reductions (including assessment appeals and reassessment issues), eminent domain, inverse condemnation, easements, covenants, conditions and restrictions.  Representation of clients in real estate development, zoning and environmental law before public agencies.

Trust, Probate and  Will Contest Litigation:  Representation of trustees, private fiduciaries and beneficiaries in contested estate litigation, including contested probate, will contests, and trust litigation.

Business and Commercial:  Representation of parties in business disputes, including breach of contract, collection disputes and business litigation.  Commercial transactions, mergers and acquisitions, formation of business entities, business entity dissolutions and buyouts (including contested).

Environmental Law:  Representation of property owners, neighbors, developers and governmental agencies in all matters of County and Municipal law with special emphasis on real estate development, transactions, and local compliance with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA).
